Our Team
SPiCE was founded by two dudes, Avry and Roman, in early 2024. Working at the local retro toy/game store, Planet Fun, they discovered their shared passion for organizing events and reading good comics. And thus, SPiCE was born!
(If you’re ever in town, stop by the shop and say hi! At least one of them is always working.
Roman Fruehan (@revolverroman on Instagram) is the Face of S.P.i.C.E. He is the Host with the Most, our master of ceremonies. SPiCE’s boots-on-the-ground, he is constantly showing face around town, connecting with local businesses, events, sponsors, and making new friends. An avid collector of all things physical-media, Roman has amassed an impressive collection of movies, comics, video games, records, books, and everything in between. You can catch him around town hanging out, or at the bar with a book. If you see him, stop him and say hi! Ask him about obscure horror movies, he’s almost always down for a chat.
Avry Ott (@avryrobinott on IG) is the guy-in-the-chair, almost always working on something behind-the-scenes for SPiCE. Our social media, website, graphic design, invoicing, table maps, he does a little bit of everything. He doesn’t show up out in the wild as often, but if you do see him, ask him what toy he has on him. He always has a toy on him. (Hint : It's probably a Transformer)
S.P.i.C.E. is only possible because of our amazing staff, a group of amazing individuals that we are proud to call friends. Load-In, set up, check-in, tending to our exhibitors, working the merch booth, and breaking it all down, S.P.i.C.E. relies on our team to make the dream a reality. We are incredibly grateful to them and we hope they know how important they are to the process!
